After your visit, HouseCalls connects with your doctor to help keep them informed about your health. It’s a great way to feel confident knowing an extra set of eyes is looking out for you between regular doctor’s visits.

Getting ready

Before your visit, you’ll receive a reminder with notes for how to get ready (see below). Also, the day before your appointment, your health care professional may call you to introduce themselves and answer any questions you have about preparing.

Notes for preparing

  • Wear shoes that are easily removed to have your feet checked
  • Have any appointment cards for your doctor and specialists ready
  • Make sure all of your medications are in their original bottles and are ready to review
  • If you record blood pressure readings, please have those results available for review
  • If you have diabetes, please have your blood glucose meter handy
  • Think about what questions or concerns you’d like to discuss and, if helpful, make a list

During your HouseCalls visit

You’ll have 45 to 60 minutes with your health care professional for a physical, health screenings and more. A HouseCalls visit can be completed while sitting at your kitchen table or in the living room, and you can use the time to ask whatever health-related questions you may have. The visit is driven by you and your needs, so screenings and conversation topics can vary.

After your appointment

At the end of your visit, you’ll receive a personalized checklist of items to discuss with your regular doctor. Also, a summary of what you talked about will be mailed to you and your doctor. After that, we’ll see you next year – one HouseCalls checkup is included in your plan every year.
